AF Technology
AF Technology Adaptive Focus Technology
Edirol’s advanced AF (Adaptive Focus) Technology is the engine that gives the UA-3FX its expressiveness. The 32 bit DSP unit organically manages the two 24 bit AD converters, based on the demands of the source material. As a result, you get delicate expressiveness across the entire dynamic range of the material.

Bass Enhancer
Bass Enhancer Bass Enhancer
The Bass Enhancer found in the EDIROL MA-15D, MA-7A, and MA-1EX Stereo Monitors lets the user hear bass frequencies not normally audible through speakers this size. It is a DSP chip programmed using psychoacoustic principles to convert low frequencies into a series of overtones which the human ear cannot distinguish from the original low frequencies. This allows the listener to perceive bass frequencies outside of the normal range of the speaker cone, without over-driving the woofer. With the Bass Enhancer, the MA-15D, MA-7A, and MA-1EX Stereo Monitors offer a strong low-end in a very compact set of reference monitors.

COSM
COSM Composite Object Sound Modeling
Once a musical instrument generates sound vibrations, it reaches the human ear through various mediating objects, each of which significantly affects the sound. The material and configuration of the instrument, the electric/magnetic amplifying system, the air and the reverberation of the room all affect the final sound. Sound modeling, the latest DSP technology, "virtually" reconstructs these objects. Roland's breakthrough Composite Object Sound Modeling (COSM) uses the advantages of multiple modeling methods and succeeds in accurately emulating existing sounds, as well as producing sounds that have never before been created.

FPT
FPT Fast Processing Technology of MIDI Transmission
FPT (Fast Processing Technology of MIDI Transmission) is a newly developed technology making MIDI transmission extraordinarily fast. In response to a regular flow of MIDI data, FPT optimizes the USB data transmission band, building up to rapid MIDI transmission. With this technology, MIDI transmission becomes steadily faster and more efficient, resulting in very low latency. FPT is compatible with the MIDI software sequencer of your choosing.

GM2
GENERAL MIDI 2 General MIDI 2
General MIDI is an industry-wide set of specifications for sound sources that allow music data to be created regardless of manufacturer or specific models. General MIDI defines the minimum number of voices that should be supported, the MIDI messages that should be recognized, which sounds correspond to which Program Change numbers, and the layout of rhythm sounds on the keyboard. The General MIDI logo on a sound source indicates compatibility with song data which also carries the General MIDI logo.
GM2 (General MIDI System Level 2) is a set of standards for editing voices not covered by GM1. GM2 also defines the operation specifications of effects and other elements in detail, and enables more sophisticated performance expression and greater compatibility, by expanding the range of voices.

GS
GS GS
The GS Format is a Roland specification which defines the manner in which multitimbral sound sources respond to MIDI messages. The GS Format includes specifications of sounds, functions available for Tone editing, effects (chorus and reverb), and additional standardized parameters. Any sound source that carries the GS Format logo is compatible with any GS Music Data (music data created under the GS Format).

HDMR
HDMR Hardware Direct MIDI Routing
HDMR is a new technology which implements a MIDI patcher function in the hardware. HDMR results in ZERO latency MIDI patching by allowing direct connection of certain MIDI In and MIDI Out ports. There is no delay generated within the entire MIDI data transmission process - unlike what may happen in software-based solutions. Thanks to HDMR, routing can be achieved with or without a USB connection. Patching operations are as simple as pushing the appropriate channel button on the front panel. Patch settings can also be written in the internal memory of the UM-880/UM-550.

HQ Software Synth
HQ Synth High Quality Software Synthesizer
The High Quality Software Synthesizer is a software synthesizer that
runs on Mac and PC. It can be plugged in to your host application, allowing you to enjoy high quality sound.

IARC
IARC Isolated Adaptive Recording Circuit
The input circuitry of the R-1 provides a separate power supply between the Analog Limiter and AD converter. This eliminates DC interference and results in an overall better quality recording.

S.L.I.M.
S.L.I.M. Short-stroke, Low-profile Impact Mechanism
Employing the newly developed S.L.I.M. standard size keyboard, we’ve succeeded in cutting thickness to less than half that of EDIROL conventional keyboards while still maintaining the superior playability of the PCR Series.

x64-bit Driver
x64-bit Driver 64-bit Driver for Windows XP Professional x64 Edition
Windows XP Professional x64 Edition is designed by Microsoft to meet the demands of customers who require more performance in areas such as mechanical design and analysis, 3-D animation, video editing and composition, and scientific and high-performance computing applications. We are developing a compatible driver for Windows XP Professional x64 Edition.

XGlite
XGlite XGlite
XG is a sound generator format promoted by Yamaha Corporation, which is based on GM1 (General MIDI 1). It provides detailed specifications concerning expansion of the sound sets, editing methods, and effects structures and types. XGlite is a reduced-functionality (“lite”) version of XG, which allows simple playback of XG music data on a sound generator bearing the XGlite logo. Since XGlite has some limitations on the parameters and effects that can be controlled, the XG music data may sound different than the original data.

V-LINK
V-LINK V-LINK
Audio and Video Together At Last!
Roland is proud to introduce a brand new concept known as V-LINK. Using V-LINK, musicians can play video from their electronic instrument--or even control a live video camera--when used with Edirol video products. All it takes is a simple V-LINK connection to make the magic happen. With V-LINK, musicians have a powerful new interface for realtime audio and video integration. Welcome to the future of music.
Captivate Your Audience with Exciting Audio/Visuals
With V-LINK, musicians can take their performance to the next level by seamlessly integrating audio and video. Imagine hitting a key and instantly triggering a corresponding video clip. Or tweaking a filter knob to create radical visual effects. Or seamlessly blending different video clips at the touch of an audio fader. These are just some of the possibilities available with V-LINK.
The Power of Video in Your Hands
Integrating video with a musical performance used to be a complicated process. In fact, it was more of an afterthought than an extension of the music. Roland's V-LINK has changed all that forever, giving musicians the power to control video while performing on stage. Using Edirol's V-1 4-channel Video Mixer, for example, musicians can create exciting visual effects that sync to BPM, or even control the picture from a live video camera.
Personal Video Production for Everyone
V-LINK also simplifies the process of editing audio and video together. Start with Edirol's PR-80 Realtime Video Presenter, which provides all of the tools for loading video and audio, creating titles, editing, processing, and output of the finished job in one integrated package that's incredibly easy to use.
